from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

Yambacoona is located in the north of King Island, 7 kilometres before Egg Lagoon is reached. It is thought to have derived its name from a ship owned by Stephenson and Gunn, which had transported settlers to the Island in 1901. Subsequent surveys for the soldier settlement schemes referred to the area as Yambacoona Estate.
