Woolnorth, located 47 kilometres from Smithton on the north west tip of the State, is the property of the Van Diemens Land Company(PEP) which first settled here in 1825. Many fine buildings remain dating from the 1830s, including the old gaol and a fully refurbished cook house cottage. Australia's Air Monitoring Station is located on the property, which overlooks Valley Bay and Cape Grim. Full guided tours of the property are available to visitors.
