Tunbridge is located 12 kilometres south of Ross, and was formerly known as Tunbridge Wells. The area was first settled in 1809 and soon became a coach staging post for travellers between Hobart and Launceston. The town has a plethora of historic buildings for visitors to inspect.


Museums and Historic Sites

A number of historic buildings remain in Tunbridge, with particular buildings of note being the Tunbridge Wells Inn, The Victoria Inn, The General Store, Coaching Stables, The Blind Chapel and a variety of colonial cottages all dating from the early 1800s. A convict constructed sandstone bridge spans the Blackman River and was built in 1848.
