from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

The township of Trevallyn sits on the edge of Lake Trevallyn, about 5 kilometres from the centre of Launceston. Both the lake and the town were formed as part of the South Esk River Hydro-Electric Scheme, which was officially opened in 1955. At the completion of construction activities in the area, all temporary housing used for the workers and their families were transferred to other Scheme villages, such as Tarraleah, and the Salvation Army took over the Staff House as a pensioners' home.

The Trevallyn State Recreation Area, by the shores of the lake, is a wonderful place to go and surround yourself with natural beauty.
