from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

Rossarden is located 46 kilometres to the west of St Marys, on the eastern side of Tasmania. The town was originally established to accommodate the miners involved in extracting underground wolfram in the area. The town produced tin until 1982, and continues to provide wolfram to most of Australia.

The drive from the town to Avoca incorporates some of the most beautiful scenery as it passes by the nearby towns of Storeys Creek and Fingal, and the imposing slopes of Ben Lomond. Visitors can explore the network of walking trails that wind through the majestic Ben Lomond National Park.
