Port Sorell, Tasmania : Main Article

from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

Located 19 kilometres from Devonport, this is a popular coastal holiday resort on the mouth of the Rubicon River in northern Tasmania. Its proximity to Devonport and the Ferry terminal, as well as the airport at Launceston, ensures its popularity as a holiday base for visitors to the area. An engaging mix of rugged coastal scenery and pleasant rolling hills, Port Sorell is the ideal destination for holidaymakers. Nearby natural attractions include the Asbestos Range National Park and the Bass Strait golden beaches.

Only a few kilometres from Port Sorell is the Welsh Tweed and Tapestry Shop, specialising - as the name would suggest - in Welsh tweed garments. The name may be somewhat of a misnoma, however, as the shop also stocks Scottish tweed, Norwegian tweed, English printed fabrics, and Swiss cottons. They have been in business for 20 years, and a visit to the shop is a delightful side trip on the way back to Devonport.
