from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

One of the ways to explore the Simpson Desert from Alice Springs is to follow the Simpson Desert Loop, which is a road only suitable for Four Wheel Drive vehicles, starting and ending in Alice Springs. Whilst on the road you will pass through Old Andado.

The Historic Andado Station is set amongst the red sand dunes of the desert, and is a magnificent spectacle in the outback. The Historic homestead was built in 1922, and the original buildings still maintain their authentic feel.

The current working station and homestead, however, are an almost 20 kilometre drive away. Tours of the property are possible, and Molly Clark, who runs the Old Andado Homestead, can provide more details on (089) 560 812. Bunkhouse accommodation, camping and caravan facilities can be found here, with regular station meals also available.
