from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

Mt Wellington is over 1500 metres high and towers over Hobart city in the south of Tasmania. This spectacular mountain is only 21 kilometres from the city, and a sealed road winds its way to the summit and the spectacular views of the Derwent River estuary and the city of Hobart.

A number of walking trails punctuate the ascent to the summit and encompass alpine scrub, heathers and craggy rock formations. A sheltered lookout point awaits visitors at the summit of this impressive mountain.
