Mt Ebenezer, Northern Territory : Main Article
The word 'town' can not be applied to Mt Ebenezer. Nor is it a station. It is in fact a roadhouse, situated almost halfway between Alice Springs and Yulara on the Lasseter Highway.
The roadhouse is owned by the Imanpa Aboriginal Community, who live nearby, and it is managed on their behalf. Evidence of their ownership abound - their dot paintings and handcrafts are available for sale, and members of the community often work in the roadhouse.
Motel style accommodation is offered, and the home cooking is a real treat. Specialties are the pastries and pies, and many people pass by here just to sample the wares !
The roadhouse has a welcoming atmosphere, and services include a bar and a restaurant. The shop has basic food items, and proudly displayed in the giftshop are the works of the Imanpa Aboriginal people.
There are barbecue facilities provided in a fly-screened area, for extra comfort, and the views of the landscape from Mt Ebenezer roadhouse are spectacular. Mt Ebenezer - the monolith - sits in the distance in the Basedow Range.
