Moorina, Tasmania : Main Article

from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

Moorina was originally named Krushka's Bridge, after the bridge that crosses the Ringarooma River. The town was one of the many in the area that were founded with a predominantly Chinese population; a direct result of the mining boom in Tasmania in the 19th century.

The name of the town was changed more recently to Moorina to honour the sister of Truganini, the last known full blooded Aborigine in Tasmania.

Moorina lies in the north east of the state, near to the towns of Branxholm and Derby. The drive from Moorina to St Helens on the Tasman Highway passes through some spectacular scenery, and a lookout near the Weldborough Pass provides a wonderful opportunity to take in the view.
