Melbourne continues to be a glowing metropolis. Gracious trams rattling along its wide, open streets, dramatic bridges over the Yarra River, tree lined streets and a variety of architectural styles enliven the city. Much of Melbourne's early heritage is visible in its modern streets, with a number of heritage buildings providing visitors and locals with an insight into Melbourne's history. The mansions of Werribee Park and Como House, as well as Rippon Lea - another of Melbourne's beautifully ornate houses - are enjoyed by many visitors. Governor La Trobe's Cottage in the Domain Gardens and the Old Melbourne Gaol are other reminders of Melbourne's early history. Rate Page
