This Museum illustrates the richness of Jewish life. Visitors can learn of the first Jews to arrive in Australia on the first fleet, and the initial hardships they experienced. As time passed, the Jewish community established itself in Australia and contributed in all spheres of life. The Museum also tells the tragic tale of the fate of some 6 million Jews in Europe, who perished at the hands of Nazi Germany.
The Museum relays information about the Holocaust through photographs, documents and audiovisual testimonies of some of the survivors. Amongst the principle objectives of the Museum, are to pay tribute to those who perished during the Holocaust, and to make people aware of the importance of religious and cultural tolerance, so that such horrific events will never again occur.
Open Monday to Thursday 10am-4pm and Sunday 12am-5pm. Closed on all Jewish holidays.
