This farm dates back to 1793 and contains part of the oldest European building in Australia. With its deep shady verandahs, the house became the prototype for the Australian homestead. Built as the home of John and Elizabeth Macarthur, pioneers of merino wool production, it is situated in a recreated 1830s garden.

The House is furnished in such a way as to give visitors a true feel of how the rooms in the House were used in the latter half of the nineteenth century. Various belongings of the Macarthurs', including furniture, are on display.

The farm is 20kms west from the city. The nearest station is Harris Park. Free guided tours and audio visual are available.
