from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

Lottah, once known as Blue Tier Junction, is today a deserted shell of a village : a sharp contrast to the hustle and bustle which was once commonplace at the end of the last century. Prosperous tin mines were worked in the area, with the three main ones being the Anchor, Cambrian and Australian. In 1900 the Anchor mine was the scene of a 24 hour non stop extraction of ore, using the most modern equipment and methods known at the time.

The Lottah State School was established and run by Alfred Wilson Pitt in 1897, and had an attendance of up to 48 pupils. By 1900 the town had a population of 350 people, and a coach service linked the town to St Helens and Scottsdale.
