from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

Lake Bennett is located 80 kilometres south of Darwin, off the Stuart Highway.

It is a man made lake, covering over 100 hectares, and it offers water activities all through the year. It is ideal for swimming, boating, sailing (catamarans), canoeing and watercycling, and there are also picnic facilities available. Fishing in the lake is popular, and rock cod, catfish and black bream are plentiful.

There are ideal opportunities for bushwalking along the shores of the lake, and a pleasant part of any walk are the various encounters with the birdlife - from pelicans to jabirus and sea eagles. There are also identification markers on the trees, to add to the educational aspect of the visit.

Lake Bennett has a general store with souvenirs, and takeaway food. There are camping facilities, and other accommodation is also available at the lake. For further information phone (089) 760 960.
