Kulin is situated between the towns of Jitarning and Kondinin in south west Western Australia. It is an ideal town for a stopover between Perth and Esperance.


Natural Attractions

Jilakin Rock is an impressive grey granite monolith that is located 16 kilometres east of the township. Amazing views of the surrounding lakes and other rock formations can be enjoyed from the top of the rock. A stand of Jarrah trees can be found here, an unusual sight as Jarrah does not grow in the wheatbelt region of the State. The next nearest stand is 140 kilometres away.

Buckley's Breakaway is another rock formation to be found further east of the town. View the pink-white rock formations as they form a direct contrast to the red-brown gravel caps of the area.

Dragon Rocks Nature Reserve is located a further 17 kilometres east of Buckley's Breakaway and is a superb haven for birds and wildflowers. Over 74 species of bird reside in the reserve including the majestic Wedge Tailed Eagle and the Mallee Fowl, 10 species of the beautiful orchid can be found in the 32,000 hectare reserve.

The drive along the Commonwealth Road takes in the Hopkins Nature Reserve which has an amazing collection of wildflowers which form a sea of colour and scent in Springtime. A lookout and picnic area can be found overlooking the splendid Lake Hurlstone and surrounds.

The 86 Gate Road Reserve is located along the road to Wickepin and has a wide variety of wildflower species which greet the visitor with dispensations of fragrance and colour in the Springtime.
