This town is located near the Holwell Gorge State Reserve in the north of the island, 20 kilometres north of Westbury on the main Frankford Road. Frankford is a small town with only a few buildings, but the drive along the Exeter Highway through town is quite pretty. Noticeable when driving through the area are the dense plantations of radiata pine, which are mainly used in domestic building and in Burnie in the paper making process.
