Exeter is a large rural district of Launceston, and an important fruit growing area in northern Tasmania.

Natural Attractions

Brady's Lookout, 5 kilometres from Exeter, is a high rocky outcrop once frequented by the infamous bushranger Mathew Brady, who used the spectacular views from the lookout to spy on the troop movements. Today visitors can use the lookout for less sinister purposes, such as photography of the spectacular views of the Tamar valley, and picnicking in the scenic rest areas.

Other Attractions

Enjoy a round of golf at Exeter Golf Club or take advantage of the tennis and bowls facilities in the town. It is also possible to sample the Notley Gorge Vineyard wines at Tamar Court Restaurant. The wines that you will have the opportunity to try here include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot Blend. For more information please phone (003) 96 1166.
