from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

Dunmarra is located along the Stuart Highway some 100 kilometres north of Elliott, and about 50 kilometres south of Daly Waters.

The existing roadhouse replaces the original pub, built in the mid 1930s by Noel Healy, a local drover. Around Dunmarra there are signs of its history involving the Overland Telegraph Station. Some of the original telegraph poles remain, and there is a commemorative marker by the road just south of town, acting as a testimonial to the construction of the line, and as a reminder of the spot where the original wires joined more than a hundred and twenty years ago.

Tourist facilities include a shop, a restaurant and bar, and barbecue facilities. Minor mechanical repairs can be handled, and there are camping and caravan park facilities available.
