from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

Docker River is in the Petermann Ranges, on the border of the Northern Territory and Western Australia. It is an Aboriginal settlement, requiring travel permits for visitors, and it offers basic services for tourists. The store is open Monday to Saturday only, but for a small fee the owners will serve you outside the normal trading hours.

Docker River is about 210 kilometres from Yulara, and about 25 kilometres from Lasseters Cave and Memorial, the main point of interest in the area. The cave is a memorial to Harold Bell Lasseter, who claimed to have found a reef of gold in the ranges, known as Lasseters Reef. To this day no traces of the reef have been found, but the adventurous and the lovers of a good mystery continue the search.
