Derwent Bridge, Tasmania : Main Article

from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

Derwent Bridge is a small township on the Lyell Highway, and is usually a stopping over point for motorists travelling to or from the west coast. The town is so named as its bridge spans the Derwent River closest to its source, which is Lake St Clair. The town is the last settlement the motorist will encounter before Gormanston

Due to its central situation, Derwent Bridge is quite close to a number of activities at the southern end of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, such as bushwalking and fishing for trout in the nearby Derwent River, and enjoying the rugged splendour of the mountains and walking trails that surround Lake St Clair.
