from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

Dellisaville was named after a lieutenant of the 78th Highlanders, Dellisa. It became an established area of 10,000 acres with tobacco, rice and tropical fruits being grown, but the major crop of significance was sugar.

A community grew up around the plantation with a jetty being built along with boiler sheds and stores. Machinery was brought in to crush and process the cane.
