from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

Darlington Point was established in 1864. Situated on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, the town was once at the confluence of road traffic and paddlesteamers which serviced the district.

The Murrumbidgee river itself is an ideal recreational area with sandy beaches, fishing, picnic spots and walks in the adjacent red gum forests which teem with native wildlife. The Lift Span Bridge built in 1904 is one of the landmarks of the area, and Ron Clarke's Studio displays some amazing free standing steel sculptures.
