Carnamah, Western Australia : Main Article
Carnamah is located in the midlands region of Western Australia, an area best known for it's wildflowers and wheat production. The area was first settled by the MacPherson family who moved here from Toodyay.
Museums and Historic Sites
The homestead of the first settlers in the area which stands in Carnamah was built in 1869 and took five years to complete. It is currently being restored. The Carnamah Museum opened in 1992 and houses a historical record of the areas development from the first settlers to the present day. Farm machinery exhibits are just some of the artefacts on show in the Museum.
Natural attractions
The Tathra National Park lies a mere 42 kilometres away from Carnamah and contains a plethora of native plant species and associated bird and animal life, well worth visiting when in the area. Yarra Yarra Lake provides a spectacular feast of colour for the eyes with it's salt waters ranging from deep red to glacial blue and milky green.
Events
The town is host to the Midland Agricultural Show in September each year, providing an opportunity for the rural agricultural community to display their skills, exhibit their livestock, catch up on the latest agricultural techniques and meet their colleagues in a social capacity.
