Admission is free and visitors can tour the first stage of this major national project on a superb 88 hectare site beside Lake Burley Griffin. There is a viewing platform, an exhibition of objects from the Museum Collection, and a theatrette showing films on the Museum's development.

Canberra also has an Opal and Gemstone Museum which houses the world's finest collection of Australian opal, and a priceless collection of Aboriginal artefacts.
