Canberra has a delightful native bushland area filled with wildlife and spectacular scenery, including the twin falls of the Ginninderra. This unique Australian bushland park on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, which flows around the outskirts of Canberra, provides visitors with the opportunity to enjoy scenic river views as well as fishing, swimming, canoeing and bushwalking. An open range animal park adds to the enjoyment of the walks, and there are picnic and BBQ areas within the Falls park area.

Visitors can also explore Namadgi National Park and Corin Forest, which include recreational facilities such as bobsleds and alpine slides.

The National Aquarium, just minutes from the centre of Canberra, houses a spectacular exhibition of aquatic life and waterfowl in a unique setting above Scrivener Dam. The Aquarium has exhibits which recreate the tropical splendour of the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a number of other unique environments.
