Balingup is located in the Blackwood River Valley, the centre of agricultural activity in the south west region of the State. The town lies near Mullalyup and Bridgetown and is fast becoming a recognised centre for arts and crafts in the area.

The Old Cheese Factory Craft Centre is the largest craft centre in the south west region and features works from local and national artists.

Other stores include The Tinderbox which specialises in herb craft products, Bailiwick with an extensive range of locally made wooden toys and the Village Pedlars who specialise in local cottage crafts.
