There are numerous cruise boats which offer trips along the Brisbane River. Daytrips take in a selection of islands in Moreton Bay, including tours to St. Helena. A trip to Fraser Island with its stunning rainforests, creeks and lakes is also possible from Brisbane. The Great Barrier Reef, one of Australia's most amazing natural wonders can be taken in on a day excursion and should not be missed.

Both the Sunshine and Gold Coasts have marvellous long stretches of golden beach, well worth a visit and within easy reach of the city.

Dozens of National Parks with rainforests, excellent walking trails, and a superb selection of native flora and fauna, are all within driving distance of the city. the Lamington Plateau, the Natural Arch in the Numinbah Valley, Mounts Glorious and Nebo, the Wivenhoe Dam and the Glasshouse Mountains are all fine examples and a must for any visitor to the area.
