The Queensland Museum is at the Queensland Cultural Centre. It has an extensive collection of displays which illustrate local history, natural history and the plights of the state's earliest aviators. Closeby at the South Bank Parklands is the Maritime Museum with its intricate model ships and nautical memorabilia.

At William Street the Sciencentre Museum is housed in the Old Printery and includes interactive displays to help engage visitors in the mysteries of science. The Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium at the Mount Coot-tha Gardens offers an amazing reproduction of the night sky and universe, giving an interesting insight into the world of astronomy. A number of displays take place Wednesday to Sunday every week.
