from 'OZpedia the Free Guide'

This is a small agricultural community east of Wirrabara. If you stop off for a drink in the Yarrowie Hotel bar you will get to see the amazing wall murals which were painted some seventy years ago. In 1878 the town started its Great Northern Cycling and Athletic Club and this is the second oldest club of this kind in all of Australia.

Just eight kilometres out of Appila are the Appila Springs, a permanent waterhole where you can enjoy a relaxing picnic in this picturesque setting.
